Learning objectives
Second cycle programme of Russian culture should build further on the levels of the competences reached at the first cycle, as well as deepen the student's training, the ability to independently formulate objectives of academic and applied research in the subject area.
Expected learning outcomes
The second level student should be able to demonstrate:
- a deeper level of knowledge of Cultural Studies applied to Russian culture;
- a deeper level of knowledge of the evolution of Russian culture in a diachronic perspective and in its relationship to other cultures;
- the ability to produce a competent analysis of different cultural texts
- the ability to use the fundamental bibliography in independent research or applied activities.

The lectures will be held on the platform Microsoft Teams; they can be followed both simultaneously in accordance with the timetable, as well asynchronously, because they will be registered and made available to the students on the same platform.
Course syllabus
The course deals with different aspects of the Soviet Russian political and cultural history of the stalinism period (1929-1953).
In the course the following topics, among others, will be treated: the collectivization of the villages, the Five-Year plans, the industrialization, the great construction sites, cultural and social revolution, the Comunist Party in the Thirties, holodomor, the concentration camp system, the show trials, the Great terror, socialist realism in literature and art, the international relations of the Soviet Union, the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, the Winter War, the Katyn' massacre, the USSR in the Second World War, the German occupation, collaborationism, the Cold War, ždanovščina, the post war reconstruction, the structures of power (state, party, nomenklatura), Stalin's death.
