Course location

Dietetics graduates are healthcare operators qualified to carry out all activities connected with the correct application of diet, including educational aspects and the joint implementation of food policies in accordance with existing laws. Graduates organise and coordinate specific activities relating to food in general and, in particular, dietetics.

They work with the bodies responsible for the maintenance of hygiene in the food service; draw up, formulate and implement diets prescribed by a doctor and check they are accepted by the patient; and work with other professionals to provide multidisciplinary treatments for eating disorders. They research and draw up food rations designed to satisfy the nutritional requirements of population groups, and organise food services for sick and healthy communities.

They provide educational and informative initiatives geared at informing people about correct dietary principles, so as to foster the recovery and maintenance the good health of the individual, the community and population groups.

Dietetics graduates can work in the following fields:

  • clinical nutrition, dietology and hospital pharmacy services in public and private hospitals;
  • meal and canteen services for schools, communities, industries and other establishments;
  • community outpatient services under the health system offering hygiene, food and nutrition education and dietary assistance in the home;
  • the planning and organisation of initiatives, also educational, in the food and nutrition sector;
  • industries in the food sector.

English language

Students must have level B1 proficiency in English. Proficiency may be certified at the time of matriculation by submitting a certificate of level B1 language proficiency or better, or by sitting the SLAM (University Language Centre) Placement test during the first year of studies only, between September and December.

Students who do not pass the test must follow the SLAM language courses and obtain appropriate certification within the year the plan of study calls for a language exam.

Within the Erasmus programme, Dietetics students have the possibility of carrying out a period of study abroad that will be recognized by the University of Milan as part of their curriculum.

During this period, 2nd and 3rd year students can attend courses and carry out professional training or prepare their degree thesis.
The study or thesis programme to be carried out abroad shall be agreed before departure with the teacher in charge or the Erasmus offices of the Degree Programme, and described in detail in a document (Learning Agreement) to be approved by the University of Milan and the host university.
Our partner universities are world-class institutions such as the Universidad de Valladolid (Spain), the Instituto Politècnico de Bragança (Portugal) and the Istanbul Gelisim University (Turkey).

Students carrying out educational activities abroad will earn 60 credits for a period of one year, 30 for 6 months and 20 for three months.
For the purposes of recognition, Erasmus students must complete the entire training programme indicated in the Learning Agreement and earn at least 70% of the credits stated in the document.

The Erasmus experience is not just a chance for cultural exchange and language learning, it is also a way of creating long-lasting international collaborations that can open up professional opportunities in Italy and abroad.

Course locations
L'attività didattica relativa al Corso di Laurea in Dietistica è svolta presso le strutture didattiche dell'area di Città Studi, e presso altre strutture a disposizione della Facoltà di Medicina e Chirurgia, comprese quelle poste a disposizione della Facoltà in regime convenzionale da parte delle Strutture Sanitarie, sia pubbliche sia private. I Dipartimenti della Facoltà di Medicina e Chirurgia, nonché i servizi di dietologia, alimentazione, e nutrizione clinica di strutture sanitarie e non sanitarie convenzionate, dotati di moderne attrezzature tecnico-scientifiche e di ampie competenze in campo nutrizionale ed alimentaristico, sono altresì utilizzati per la formazione professionalizzante e lo svolgimento di tirocini e attività attinenti la prova finale di Laurea.

The tuition fees for students enrolled in Bachelor's, Master's and single-cycle degree programmes are divided into two instalments with different calculation methods and payment schedules:

  • The amount of the first instalment is the same for all students
  • The amount of the second instalment varies according to the ISEE University value, the degree programme and the student status (on track / off track for one year or off track for more than a year) 
  • An additional fee is due for online programmes

The University also offers:

  • Concessions for students meeting high merit requirements
  • Diversified tuition fees according to the student's home country for international students with assets/income abroad
  • Concessions for international students with refugee status
