Physiotherapy graduates are healthcare operators responsible for offering preventive, curative and rehabilitative treatments, either autonomously or as part of a group of healthcare figures, in the areas of motility, the upper cortical functions and visceral functions subsequent to pathological events of varying aetiology, either congenital or acquired.

On the basis of the doctor's diagnosis and prescriptions, and within their sphere of competence, Physiotherapy graduates, sometimes as part of a multidisciplinary team, set out rehabilitation programmes to identify and satisfy the health requirements of disabled persons.

They autonomously:

  • offer curative treatments geared at the functional rehabilitation of motor, psychomotor and cognitive disabilities, using physical, manual, physical, psychomotor and occupational therapies;
  • recommend the use of orthotics, prostheses and aids, offering training on how to use them and assessing their efficacy;
  • verify that the rehabilitative methodology adopted corresponds to the functional recovery objectives;
  • carry out research, didactic and professional consulting activities in the health services and all other areas which require their specific professional competences.

Physiotherapy graduates are qualified to operate in the following areas, in a freelance or employed capacity:

  • hospitals;
  • general public or private rehabilitation units;
  • specialist public or private rehabilitation units;
  • care homes for the elderly or the disabled;
  • sporting associations or groups;
  • independent services, in a dedicated facility or in the home.

Application and admission: Limited enrolment with admission test.

The Degree Programme in PhysioTherapy boasts a solid tradition of international exchanges.
The European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students, or Erasmus programme, was launched in 1987 by the European Community and provides European university students with the opportunity to carry out a period of study abroad legally recognized by their home university.
The degree programme in PhysioTherapy currently allows third-year students to carry out professional training abroad in the form of an internship.
To this end, we have identified prestigious European partners in Portugal (Egas Muniz and Setubal - 4 places), Spain (Madrid and Lleida - 3 places), France (Lyon - 2 places) Poland (Kielce - 3 places), Czech Republic (Prague - 1 place) and Romania (Arad - 1 place).

In addition to bilateral agreements, the Erasmus Plus programme provides mobility options for two teachers per university.

The experience abroad lasts three months and awards students 20 ECTS credits.

Our students appear to be satisfied with their experience, since they have often found ideas for their thesis and created long-lasting contacts, also in terms of employment opportunities after graduation.
The Erasmus experience is not just a part of your university education, but also a chance to live in a different culture and learn its language, to take responsibilities and develop a sense of belonging to a common path shared by students from different countries.
