International students enrolling in single courses

How to enrol

Students with foreign educational qualification can enrol in a single course according to the same deadlines and procedures as for Italian students, but they must deliver, by appointment, the following documentation (original + copy) to the International Students Office.

Students holding a secondary school diploma

  • high school diploma, translated into Italian, legalized by the authorities of the country issuing the degree;
  • on-site Declaration of Value issued by the Italian Embassy in the country where the diploma has been obtained or validity certificate issued by ENIC-NARIC centers or by diplomatic representations in Italy;
  • University enrolment certificate with the list of exams taken or post-secondary qualification obtained in a non-university higher institute or foundation course certificate if the local system contemplates less than 12 years of schooling;
  • academic suitability certificate if provided in the Country of origin;
  • valid residence permit (only for non-EU citizens);
  • fiscal code;
  • identity document.

Students holding a university degree

  • Degree (Bachelor Sc. or equivalent), translated into Italian by an official translator, legalized by the competent authorities of the Country issuing the degree;
  • on-site Declaration of Value issued by the Italian Embassy in the country where the degree has been obtained or validity certificate issued by ENIC-NARIC centers or by diplomatic representations in Italy.
  • copy of valid residence permit (only for non-EU citizens);
  • fiscal code;
  • identity document.

Furthermore, non-EU students who reside abroad have to access the Universitaly portal in order to fill in the relative "pre-enrolment application" online. The subsequent pre-enrolment phases must be completed at the relevant Diplomatic - consular missions for the purpose of obtaining the study visa.

The application of these students must be accompanied by the following documents:

  • receipt of the Universitaly pre-application;
  • request for a residence permit
  • study Visa;
  • any certificates of competence in Italian.

The high school diploma and university degree/certificates are also accepted in French, English, German and Spanish.

he certified translation of the university degree and the related on-site Declaration of Value/statement of validity can be replaced by the Diploma Supplement issued by the universities of countries belonging to the European Higher Education Area.

Fees

International students will pay the same fees as Italian students.

International students who take part in interuniversity programmes, or are enrolled in foreign universities that have specific agreements with the University of Milan, and holders of scholarships granted by the Italian government are exempt from enrolment fees, though they must pay a 26 euro contribution for administrative costs.

Residence permit

You cannot obtain the renewal of your residence permit for attending a single course other than the one for which you came to Italy.

However, you can renew your residence permit for furthering your studies by enrolling in a related degree programme
